Why Travel with Sojourn?

Cambodia holds a special place in my heart. I’m a second-generation Cambodian-American, born to parents who escaped the country during the civil war. Despite the unimaginable hardships they endured, Cambodia remains a vital part of who we are. It’s where their story began--and by extension, mine too.

Over the years, I’ve returned to Cambodia many times. One thing I often hear from friends is, “I’d love to go, but I don’t speak the language, and I wouldn’t know where to start.” That’s exactly why I created Sojourn!

When you travel with us, we take all the guesswork and stress out of planning. We’ve already done the hard work—sourcing the best places to stay, eat, and explore—so you can fully immerse yourself in the experience without worrying about logistics.

We’ll be your built-in translators and cultural guides. We’ll help you order food, interact with locals, and maybe even teach you a little Khmer along the way! We also know the dos and don’ts of traveling in Cambodia. I’ve learned from experience—like when I got really sick during a solo trip at 18—and now I know how to keep travelers safe, comfortable, and healthy.

From transportation and accommodations to curated activities and meals, we handle every detail! Even before the trip, we’ve got you covered. We’ll set up a group chat where you can ask questions, get travel tips, and connect with your fellow travelers. We’ll offer guidance on booking your flights, provide a suggested packing list, share tips on what to expect, and host a pre-trip Zoom call to go over everything together.

Once we’re in Cambodia, we’ll continue to support you—helping exchange money, setting up SIM cards, translating, taking photos, and navigating every experience—big or small.

We’re here to make sure your journey is smooth and unforgettable. so you can relax and enjoy the journey. Whether it’s your first time abroad or you’re a seasoned traveler, you’ll never feel lost or alone.

     Travel Requirements
    & Other Information:
  • To join us on this unforgettable journey, you'll need a valid passport. Be sure to check the expiration date—your passport must be valid for at least six months beyond your intended departure date, which is February 24th, 2026 (unless you choose to extend your trip independently after the group portion ends).

  • A visa is required to enter Cambodia, but don’t worry—it’s super easy to obtain. You can get one upon arrival at the airport, or apply for an eVisa in advance [here].

  • While Cambodia no longer requires proof of COVID-19 vaccination or testing, other vaccinations such as Typhoid, Hepatitis A & B, and Yellow Fever are recommended. You can view a full list of suggested vaccinations [here].

  • Our itinerary is moderately strenuous and includes a good amount of walking, so please make sure you're physically comfortable with that. In addition to walking, we’ll be traveling by bus between cities, taking a domestic flight, and enjoying four boat rides. If you are prone to motion sickness, we recommend bringing any necessary medications to keep you comfortable.

  • Because we’ll be moving from one hotel to another throughout the trip, we kindly ask that everyone packs light—one suitcase and one personal bag only. This helps ensure comfort during travel and respects the limited space on our transportation. Please only bring what you can comfortably carry yourself. One of our resort stays is only accessible by ferry, so you’ll need to manage your own luggage during transitions.

  • We’ll also be taking a domestic flight during the trip. The airline allows: One personal bag (max 7 kg)  and one checked bag (max 23 kg)  If your luggage exceeds these limits, you’ll be responsible for any oversize or extra baggage fees that apply.  We’ll send a helpful packing list before the trip to make things easy!

  • February is one of the best months to visit Cambodia, with warm and pleasant weather averaging between 70–90°F. It’s the dry season, so you can expect lots of sunshine—perfect for exploring! That said, we’ll be spending a lot of time outdoors, so please come prepared: Bring sunblock, a hat, and breathable clothing. Stay hydrated—we’ll have a cooler stocked with cold water on the bus at all times.

  • Most importantly, please come ready to be on time, respectful of your fellow travelers, and open to the beauty and adventure that Cambodia has to offer. Bring your positive energy, curiosity, and sense of adventure!
What people are saying about traveling with us:
Don’t just take our word for it--
here’s what some of our past travelers had to say about their experience with Sojourn and the magic of Cambodia:
Picture
“Our trip to Cambodia exceeded our expectations. My husband, who rarely expresses his feelings, said, ‘Every day just keeps getting better.’ Our tour guides researched every hotel and restaurant to make sure each location was clean and had a high standard of service. Every day, two or more Cambodian activities or historical sites were planned to expose us to the culture, people, and environment of this region of the world.

Monkeys, elephants, beaches, ancient ruins, historical sites, and city markets were all a delight to see and experience as a group. Two of our guides survived the war of the Khmer Rouge and told us their personal stories, which brought extra meaning to the trip and made our experience very authentic. We would highly recommend this trip—it was organized, well-planned, and full of adventure.”
— Sojourn Couple
“I loved seeing the old temples and learning more about the history I never learned in school. I loved becoming brave enough to walk out into the street with my hand up to signal to drivers to slow down. I loved having the chance to try things I’d never done before. I also loved being able to interact with many Cambodians even if we couldn’t communicate well.”
